If you sit atop a ship

If you sit atop
a ship
And chew a piece of
white gum
You’ll find colorful
pavements,
brown sand, the kind that’s
dusty,
rusted monkey bars,
still cold
for someone to touch.

And if you look far
enough:
dancing stalks of grass,
so free,
constant beeping of
machines,
the whisper of the
wise trees,
the wind fingering
your hair,
all atop a ship.

Majestic clouds dare
approach,
blotting God’s divine
blue sky.
And if your eyes pass
rubber
hopscotch playgrounds, they
will see
a lone tether ball.

If you sit atop
a ship
A lone tether ball,
is found.
